1 inch of new snow smoothed out the suncups on Heliotrope ridge. Hit permanent snow just above the hogsback around 6800ft.

The new snow felt sun warmed and sticky, which made for easy up hill travel. No ski crampons needed. Skiing was surprisingly enjoyable and skied much better than expected, descending off the high point of Heliotrope.
Felt wonderful to ski a freshly carpeted surface, care of mother nature.

Cooler temps and moody Mount Baker weather made for a pleasant change from summer conditions.

1 or 2 small cracks to go around....or over, but very easy travel.

Huckleberry bounty along the Heliotrope trail was an added bonus!
Nice tour; thanks for sharing it.
