« on: 07/10/14, 09:39 AM »

early july got the warm weather and beat the crowds for a fun trip.
got a lot of turns in a short amount of time, two days for 17 k. plus a little pond skimming to top things off

Andres and I were up there last weekend, and we fell victim to the TAY effect. Having seen the nice runs folks had taken on the Big Tuna/Genie snowfield, we decided it looked like a "shortcut" onto the N ridge. Not a bad choice until we reached the top of the snowfield and found the only way onto the ridge was a rock climb. Less chossy than most of the rock around but low 5th class, at least in ski boots with skis on packs. For whatever reason we had brought a rope, and I was able to sling a few horns and claw my way up. Part of the blame can be given to Beckey, who only mentions that with that route "some easy gully scrambling may be encountered below the ridge."

Sorry, no pictures since I was busy trying not to crap my pants.
