WA Cascades West Slopes South (Mt Rainier)

Peter, Brett and I paid a visit to Paradise Glacier. Skinning starts about 10 steps from 4th Crossing trailhead. Overcast sky and breeze kept the snow from softening too much on this day with forecasted freezing levels of 13500 feet. Topped out on Anvil Rock and had some nice turns on Paradise Glacier.
Snow cups are still very small or nonexistent except just above Cowlitz Pass and lower down. Bergschrund below Anvil Rock is pretty well developed and there is one larger crevasse on Paradise Glacier, and few incipient ones, all easily negotiable. Snow on the glacier getting a bit dirty. Saw two ptarmigan in summer plumage, three goats, one marmot, several raven, and two people (not counting the crowds on the Muir Snowfield of course).
