Thanks to Skier of the Hood for inspiring this little trip to Paulina Peak. Spectacular terrain with minimal approach. Half an inch of cold, fresh snow on top of unconsolidated granular. A good freeze will prime the area up for some good corn snow. Really worth a trip if you're in the Bend area.

So you parked at the start of the peak road to the top?  Nice report--thanks!  Nice pics too...

rlsg--yep, parked right at the Paulina Peak Road snow gate. I'll bet by this weekend, the road will be open. Park by where the Crater Rim Trail crosses the road. Unless one is a local and skis the chutes all the time (which I'm not) it's nice to be able to see your options before hand. Also, start early and bring a helmet. Definitely a possibility of rockfall, but very manageable. Go get 'em!

Done it a few times but like the reminders for sure.
