May 20, 2014, Lake Ann, Maple Pass + DIY Ski Rocker

About 4 feet of snow at the Rainy Pass pull-out (room for several cars). Water available just before Lake Ann. No pollen--nice! Lake Ann frozen over.
We skied to Heather Pass and then up pt 6870 and back down to Maple Pass (just S of 6870). The new snow from about 2 weeks ago is sure taking its time consolidating. I guess it's the lack of reliable night-freeze. However, the slopes immediately west of Maple Pass had excellent corn for a long ways. When the snow snakes first appeared we stopped and skinned back up for another run.
Hollywood took a fall and jammed his ski into the snow with great force and invented a new technique for DIY ski rocker! Wood glissaded down and started walking out while Dicey and I took an extra run and then hauled his broken gear down. Slopes on the east were mushier than idea but still very skiable, although we both had thigh-burn before the lake.
