A nice little loop around Mt Angeles in the Olympics -

Climbed from the Switchback TH, circling around the west shoulder to the summit.

Skied down along our ascent route.

Climbed all the way back to the summit after debating the weather, then dropped north.

Ascended eastward to a saddle, dropped into the large NE bowl.

Climbed southward to Victor pass, skied to the car.

Interesting mix of conditions. Cold dry pow atop edgeable crust in the shade, shmoo in the sun. South facing coverage starting to thin out. Overall an excellent tour in one of my favorite spots.
Looks like one sweet tour, thanks for the report.

Nice pictures, Scott, and it looks like good pow in some pics

Wow… you hit that just right!

Excellent day... We saw y'all parked at the turn out and were stoked to see an Alpental hat. We found similar conditions and some great turns along klahhane. Our goal was to do Angeles Sunday but upon arrival we were informed the road would be closed for the day.... Access can be a real bummer.

Thanks for the props, dudes. Kam, we oughtta get out again this spring.

Libteched: we saw some tracks on a north-facing slope between Angeles and the visitors center... I assume they were yours, since you guys buzzed on past us in the morning. Did you see any other skiers? We saw no human sign all day except your tracks in the distance.

Sorry you got shut out the next day. Did the ranger give the reason? Wet slides on the road?

We got to the gate at 0830 Saturday and found it closed. The ranger told us that it had "snowed more than they expected", and that their snowplowing budget had ended on April 1. The only plow they had was the lightweight Chevy Suburban rig. By the time we made a lap through the campground to use the facilities, the rangers were opening the gate, right at 0900. The road was dry up to our parking spot, except a few wet shady corners on the north slope.

Awesome report; awesome photos, great to see people getting out and about in that great terrain.
