Day 40
BloodmoonMoonlight Powder on the Continental Divide

April 14, 2014

Look at that smile.

9 pm and the moon rises above the ridgeline, 15€ €“ 18€ new, 20 degrees.

You have to love Colorado in springtime.

Two days prior I was smashing around in grabby corn snow in the same spot.

Deepest base of the year, and most of the ski areas have closed.  Ironic.

Knee deep fluff on the climb up to my usual high point.  The moon was hiding behind a ridge so the first part of the descent was in wild flashlight coverage as I hooted and hollered through the trees in knee deep fluff.  The 2nd half was in near daylight back down to the waiting car, the empty parking lot, the electric Eddie Harris on the drive back home.

Maybe another nighttime pow session this year?  Who knows and who cares!?! What a great year!

(and the Year of the Selfie)
