If Sunday at Crystal was good, then Monday was better. warm evening temperatures made for soft corduroy from Forest Queen to the dead cat traverse. the route to bear gap proved straightforward with a good purchase even on shady side slopes . we boot packed up the ridge as the views of Rainier and Adams opened up under a slight haze. lunch was served up by Sun dogs . The menu: appetizers of corn cakes served on a bed of glades, followed by the main corn dish delish on the open slopes below. a feast worth hootin and hollering about. for dessert we skinned back up and into crystal for hours more fun in the sun.
We noted a recent loose wet slide from a collapsed cornice near Bear Gap.
