Session #3 of NWAC's Going Deep Workshop Series is tonight at Second Ascent from 7:30-9:30. The Going Deep Series is geared towards those with some backcountry experience and avalanche education—think of it as continuing education for your AIARE Avalanche 1 certification.

Hindsight is 20/20, or so they say. And when an avalanche incident occurs it's all too common for those of on the sidelines to pick apart seemingly obvious mistakes, claiming that we would not have made those same choices. It's often overlooked, with in-the-moment-decision-making, that we do a poor job managing our own biases and risk evaluation. So how can we improve our decisions while in the field? For years, avalanche classes have used the case study to link decision-making techniques to actual decision made. For the third installment of our popular Going Deep Workshop, we'll put a twist to the classic avalanche case study.
