I had a stellar tour of the Satus pass area yesterday.  This was my 1st visit to this part of the Simcoes since the Monastery Fire.   I was tickled to see all of the new ski run possibilities, both from the fire-cleared foliage and from a bulldozed fire break.  Yakama tribal folks were there marking trees for a salvage operation so even more terrain may open up.

The snow was all over the place, but I found some good pow in the trees.  Seemed a little sketchy on the southeast slopes.  Brilliant warm sun shining on new snow - pinwheels etc, so I kept my head on a swivel.

While the meager snowpack has been a bummer this winter, I HAVE been able to drive much further up the dirt roads and explore some new terrain and finally managed to summit Indian Rock after 10 years of trying!
Where do you park to ski around Satus Pass? Is the old State Park a good starting point?

I'd use one of those swivels so long as I don't have to go to yoga to get one.
That's an interesting TR from a area I have only driven through as fast as possible.
