Very very sad to hear this. Rescue is not complete yet from what I understand. Please pray or whatever else you do.

You do SAR, don't you? I can see why these kind of conditions would put you on edge.

Yeah - it's partly that, and partly just the big hit to the community that always shows up here, or on NW Hikers or CC.com, or just in the network of friends. Always reveals all these connections.

I really hope the pager stays quiet this weekend though, for sure.

I know the B'ham/WWU/Baker community is super bummed about the Wallowas slide. RIP friend.

Very sad to hear about this. Horrible Accident. I hope those who came out alive heal quickly and condolences to the friends and families of those who weren't so lucky.

I saw in one of the related articles, there is the Wallowa Avalanche Center for that area. It is a remote area, out there. Good to know there is a forest service avalanche forecast. It is sad for an accident to occur.

I keep checking WAC for an accident report but haven't seen one yet. Anyone know anything more?

From the WAC Facebook page, regarding the report:

Cornucopia Peak avalanche report is complete and will be available publicly soon. #oravy #avy

Wallowa Avalanche Center
Expect it to probably be posted this week on the Wallowa Avalanche Center website and avalanche.org

Does anyone know if the accident report has been released yet, and if so, where one can access it?

Thank-you,
MJ

Wallowa Avalanche Center said this in their March 1 update (lower right of their front page):

The report on the February 11th avalanche accident has been submitted for publication. We will post a link here when it is available.

Looks like they just published verbatim the report from the guides that were involved, with maybe a bit of the interviews with the clients.

Jake's memorial in Bellingham last weekend was SRO. He was a great guy and obviously made a lot of impact in the community in his short 23 years. RIP.
