After reading the forecast for extremely cold weather starting on Tuesday, Jill and I went to West for some turns in the sun. This was the first time weve put on the skins since July 2013. There was sun, temperatures in the mid 20s, a slight breeze and about an inch of fresh snow. We did not see anyone else on the slopes. We think telemack was working and Robie was ? We almost got lonely touring by ourselves on the open slopes in the sun, before a big black cloud moved overhead. The condition of the snow was much better than expected and made for a couple of really fun runs.
Robie was at paradise with Ken and Anita and it sure was lonely there. Deep powder up to 16 " with 6" ski pen. Visibility was bad so we stuck to Mazama. Some sluffing in the steep entry trees. one boarder and two skinny ski skiers who we never saw. WE drove out the gate at 5:05pm with ranger behind us.
