January 10, 2014, Stevens Pass

I was quite tired from yesterday but had a friend who had driven 14.5hrs from Tahoe to find good skinning today.  We started for Snoqualmie Pass for a short tour before the rain was due to arrive.  In North Bend we read the pass report of rain and standing water on the road.  He was happy to sightsee so we diverted to Stevens where it was snowing and blowing at 1030am.

We skinned up to Skyline Lake and I sent my two pals down the north slopes for their first time there. A track out had been set yesterday. Today the pole penetration was 24" but ski pen. only 5-6".  The skiing was smooth and safe in wind sheltered glades.
