Joe Edmark and I were heading to Rock Mountain, but the lack of bluebird changed our minds to Lichtenberg. We took an alternative route, directly up from first cabin at Yodelin there is an old road that we followed to the PCT. We followed the PCT around to under Lake Valhalla and up the open slopes of Lichtenberg. Learned from other group that access creek right and creek left (our exit) both work well. Lichtenberg is holding nice snow on both sides and it was a worthwhile tour.
looks like a cool tour for sure. Glad to hear the conditions are holding out. is the usual approach up the smith brook drainage?
Nice to run into you Oyvind. I have been skiing off the summit area for the past few days. Surprisingly good snow was available on most aspects above about 4500'.
