We enjoyed deep snow in the basin immediately southwest of Cutthroat on Sunday. Coverage was just adequate, though we did collect a few good dings and scratches on our bases. Visibility came in and out, but we exploited the handsome larches and pines and had a great time.

At 6,700' we measured an average snow depth of 60-70cm. We didn't observe any instability, but we didn't go above 6,900' where we did start to notice some wind effects.

I expect the road won't stay open much longer, but it was a real treat to start the season in the North Cascades.
