Mt Shasta Weather Link? was created by zenom
Using google all I can seem to find is Mt Shasta City weather forecast. Of course I can extrapolate to the mountian, but I've been spoiled by the great WA and OR mountain weather links on this site. <br><br>Does anyone have a good link for Mt. Shasta (mountain) weather forecast? I'm looking for freezing levels and the higher elevation 7,000-ft plus, forecast. Thanks in advance.

The links section of Amar's website has all the weather links you'd ever need for planning a volcano trip:<br>www.skimountaineer.com/EquipInfo/Links.html

From there, the most useful weather forecast is the NWS Shasta Recreation forecast:
www.wrh.noaa.gov/mfr/TextProduct.php?wfo=mfr&pil=REC&sid=MFR

You may also want to see the forecast for Mt Shasta city:
www.srh.noaa.gov/data/forecasts/CAZ082.p...93&city=Mount+Shasta

And read the Medford weather discussion:
www.wrh.noaa.gov/total_forecast/getprod....=mfr&sid=mfr&pil=afd

Shasta also has once of the most useful webcams of all the volcanoes (imo):
www.snowcrest.net/camera/
You can even watch an mpeg movie of the previous 7 days.

Then there's the USFS Climbing report, which is updated farily frequently:
www.shastaavalanche.org/reports.htm

Several weather telemtry stations can be seen here:
www.shastaavalanche.org/weather.htm

In the winter you'll want to check their avy advisory:
www.shastaavalanche.org/advisory.htm

How did people go skiing prior to the internet?

In addition, the Fifth Season has a Climbers & Skiers hotline with a recorded message of conditions. # is 530 926-5555. During peak season it gets updated almost daily.

Jeff, thanks for taking the time to give me such a complete answer. <br><br>I think the second link Jeff posted is what should appear in the Turns-All-Year website&gt;weather links&gt;forecast: text&gt;other - Mt Shasta rec forecast. The current link there is broken.

<br><br>Actually, the link you really want to use is this one:<br> www.wrh.noaa.gov/total_forecast/getprod....=mfr&sid=mfr&pil=rec <br>It has the major advantage of a menu at the bottom which contains the previous 7 days' forecasts.<br><br>Similarly for Rainier, try:<br> www.wrh.noaa.gov/total_forecast/getprod....=sew&sid=sew&pil=rec <br>which has a menu with roughly 4 days of archived forecasts.<br><br><br>Edited to add NOTE: The links above are not displaying properly (they show "&a mp;" in them instead of a single &), but they do work if clicked.<br>
