November 4-5, 2013, Highwood Pass, Pow and Rocks

Went to Highwood Pass in Berta. Snow was excellent with a 40-80cm base but it was all fluff with no bottom except in wind favored locations. Found good skiing in the Little Highwood Pass area on the first day. Then the second day we went for the Rae Glacier. Winds the night before beat us to it and we turned around at the moraines fearing windslabs on the glacier. Got some consolation skiing along the edge of an avalanche path where winds had piled up some extra snow for us against the trees. Lots of aesthetic lines in the area, it is a shame one can't ski here in March/April.

Rogers Pass is reported to have 70cm at Balu Pass. I will probably be headed there next week once it gets another storm or two to make more options viable.
