I guess w/ the 'climate change' - t a y turns may be more possible in the N. sierra/ S. cascades. We're lookin at 8 inches from tonight's storm, which can yield a couple smooth, ground surface spots for cautious turns.
I went to a new patch (sierra's)  this past Sept., to find out it was a small glacier; steep too - not allowing any turns. I was bummed, as the patch was larger than it looked from a distance.  And Mt. Lassen usually has August skiable patches, even on mild snow yrs. So that's how it pans out down south, thanks.
Lassen was one of my favorites on the volcano tour last spring.  Can't wait to get out there this winter and hit some of the smaller peaks. I read the Shasta was one of the few places in the world where glaciers are actually increasing in size, thanks to increased precip.
