Spent the weekend in Bend with my parents (who were visiting from Virginia), and managed to sneak away for my first turns of the season on an empty Mount Bachelor. The main parking area was gated, so I parked at the Tumalo sno park and walked to the base of Skyliner lift, where I was able to skin the rest of the way. Skied the cirque, jogged left to a gully to mid mountain, and stuck to the shaded side of ski trails the rest of the way to the lift base for 2,700 vf of descent. Really thin from mid mountain down, but not bad for October.
