I hope this doesn't offend anyone. but it's not going to snow the next ten days or so anyway...

Flight of the Butterflies at the Imax theatre (shows 10:30 am and 1:00 pm daily through November 20th) was astounding.

The 3-D photography of butterflies in flight surrounding you on the screen and the close-up shots were terrific.

It tells about the migration of the Monarchs and the story of the discovery of that migration. It is also mildly educational. Any nature lover must see this film.

I saw it with the kids and we all dug it. On a some what related note I recall a ski trip to the eastern sierras where the heavy snows pushed butterflies into Mexico and caused a population boom resulting in a big migration that year. It was quite a scene in the mtns with winds blowing them onto snow and bird feasting on them windshields thick with them and riding down couloirs while they swarmed up. I think these we're painted lady butterflies.
