We descended from the highest skiable point on mt. Hood yesterday. We found thigh deep stable pow, with some semi-dangerous wind loaded spots, overall some of the best snow conditions I've found on the summit of mt hood.

Pretty rad to get a 5,000 ft. Extreme run on October 3rd!
Photos coming soon.
Pretty good skiing down  here in Bend area (with rock skis just in case).  Was wondering about Hood--that place can be awesome (obviously) --Thanks for all the great Hood reports!!!!!!!!!!!

the author, early in the morn

twas a beautiful sunrise

the snow was nice n deep

then we shreedeed

and we surfed

and it was stellar!

Saw you climbing up but didn't see you come down. We skinned up to below Crater Rock and laid down lines toward Zig Zag Canyon. Then traversed back to ski down to the lodge.
Great day for October turns.

Thanks for the pics!!  Ready for the next storm --  Hood trip coming up--in the neck of the woods --so close and so cool!

yeah!  let's hear it for october volcano pow runs!  we were looking down at hood from adams and remarking that we need to get down there one of these days.
