We arrived at the Mowich Lake Parking lot just before 8am.  We were a little worried on the way up as it was raining in some locations quite heavily.  However, by the time we reached the lake rain had given way to snow!!  So, after having a leisurely breakfast and gathering all of the necessary items for the day we were off at about 9:30 under overcast and snowy skies.

This was our first time up this way so we weren't quite sure what to expect.  We figured if visibility was poor we would
just stay lower on the mountain.  Well, visibility was poor on our ascent making route finding a bit difficult and I  think we went around a ridge that we wouldn't have had too, thus making our ascent less direct.  We had a few peek-a-boo moments for the sun and were able to look around abit.  We pushed on higher, but an impending whiteout made us decide it was time to call it the hight point for the day (just above cat eye lake) and head back.  There was about .5" of fresh on top of a consolidated spring time base.  The turns were mighty tasty being best higher up and a little wetter futher down, but still good. Yum! Wouldn't you know it that just as we reached the trail out the clouds lifted and it was sunny??  Well, we had a nice hike out stopping by to check out the impressive spray falls and taking in the views of the mountain top at the lookout.

Definitely lots of lines to be had in the area and now on my list of places that must be revisted on a more extensive trip.
5" of fresh ? Good it will last a while then till your next trip up there. Probaly got some more on top of that.
thanks for the report
