For the last weekend in July (and for my 21st month of TAY), I convinced a few friends to head down for a relaxing ski weekend at Hood (including Jonn-E who posted his own report).
We cheated and took the chair lifts up to 8200, then climbed another 700' to camp, which we reached by 2pm. Shenanigans ensued. Wine consumed.
We rose early and left camp at 5:30am, and after a nearly disastrous route choice, we regained the proper route and headed up east of crater rock. We dropped skis around 9200' as it was just a suncupped, frozen disaster zone.
Once on the Hogsback we could see Pearly Gates were a no-go (completely bare) and opted to traverse to the old chute just below the bergschrund.
The summit was completely bare and devoid of people. Conditions were pleasant overall despite the wind.
