Trail from White River campground parking lot is in great shape all the way to Glacier Basin, but you won't find continuous snow to skin on until you get there.
One small crevassed area opening up on climber's left 3/4 the way up to Steamboat Prow, easily avoided. Snow was soft wet unconsolidated under suncrust in places. Upper ~1000 was riding nicely into the afternoon, lower was heavy and very sticky.
