I started very late 10:30 pm at Devils Lake 5500ft. snow conditain've gotten worst since we got havy rain on saturday, 2.5 inch.Last wednesday and thursday snow conditin was very good.The rain washed some of snow and it is soft and wet . freezing level was 11000 ft last night. So it is not a great condition and there was some risk for avy too.
Snow level is about 6000 ft . before that some snow paches .It was a sunny day. I hiked up between devils hill and Kaleetan Butte to 8500 ft. three women was skiing down about 9000ft west of Lewis glacier. One of them created small avelance and 100ft long hill slide down. That was not a big avalance but snow was not very stable.
I turned back from 8500ft.
It was a good day.
