Skied Shasta Saturday and Sunday after driving up from San Diego.
The road is well marked and very well maintained, 45 minute drive from the 89 in a Civic. You can get to within a quick 20 minute walk of the TH, probably a little closer as of now.
I scoped the approach on Saturday and skied from 10k. Bivvied at the car and left at 3:30am on Sunday, summitted around 11:30, skied to within a five minute walk of the TH, along with two dozen new friends.
Snow is continuously skiable to within about half a mile of trail from the TH, but it's melting pretty fast. Very textured, dirty, grabby under 9k. Above 9k held some decent corn, but the Wintun was mostly glop.
Disappointing skiing considering Shasta's reputation. Maybe the glop will consolidate in the new few days and provide some decent corn.
