Silver...I-90....may 28

Climbed up directly into the chute between summit and lesser summit to the west till the snow met rock. Dropped down the east arm of the basin till right above the waterfalls. We hiked all the chutes on the east side of this basin. I vote this side of silver to be the best. The west side of the basin is melted out. We had plenty of sun and were happy with the snow conditions. It was faster than expected but was soft enough to carve.The chutes coming off the east ridge are plenty steep so you don't have to worry about the snow grabbing at you. No avalanche concern here....just rockfall in the upper reaches of the chutes. It will all be gone after the rain this week. We saw nobody on the craziest holiday weekend of the year!!Glad we stayed away from muir and adams. Save those for weekdays.
