We persevered through less than optimal weather for the first couple days of our glacier ski mountaineering course and Sunday morning were in position (along with 100 other people) for a beautiful ski off the top. Fairly classic Cascade volcano snow conditions: firm at the top, great corn for a couple thousand feet, and mush down to the car.

Route conditions on the Easton were excellent overall with a 5cm melt-freeze crust having formed over the new snow.

Big thanks to Steve C, Marianne, and Scott for a great 4 days in the mountains!

Sounds like a great trip.

We were up the next day on Sunday and the conditions were great before 1:00.  Crevasses are definitely opening up on the Roman Wall.  One of our party decided to boot pack for the last 500 feet, but as soon as he got his skis on his pack, we ran into a thin long crevasses that a roped climbing team just punched into.  It spread at least half way across the headwall.  Time to put the skins back on since we were not going to rope up.  It was passable to climbers left.

Down low in the valley, we saw an awesome snowmobiler high marking the valley.  Just as he was about to crest out, he rolled his snowmobile and it and he slid all the way back to the valley floor.  No one was hurt.  Those antics did not completely make up for all the tracks all over the mountain, but it was fun to watch.
