Portland friend Lynd and I squeezed this tour into a very small weather window on Saturday. After chatting with Jeff Huber a bit in the parking lot (thanks for the beta Jeff and nice to meet all of you too!) we headed up into the murk.

We skinned up through the ski area in thick clouds and fog until we were above the top of the Cascade Express chair where a very brisk breeze blew the clouds away and gave us hope that we could execute our Superbowl plan. In a strengthening wind we kept climbing, eyeing the cloud ceiling carefully as it hovered at the top of the Wy'east face:

As we reached ~8900', where the ridge first begins to blend into the lower face, the wind cranked up a bunch, from just plain strong to blasting us with driving snow and ice. I looked up and saw that the ceiling was dropping and we said "high enough" and traversed easily into Superbowl and out of the worst of the wind. The bowl looked to be in over to the gap leading to Heather Canyon as the clouds continued to sink. Skiing down Heather was just as good, and as we climbed
