May 5-6 White and Cayuse Pass pre-corn
5/5/13
WA Cascades East Slopes South

Conditions
White - skiable N aspects, less skiable S aspects
Cayuse 3-6 feet base.
Heavy and sloppy in the sun. Should be all corned up later this wk. There is still a lot of new snow from last weeks storm, especialy along the crest. Large, scary looking cornices. S facing melting out fast. Time the open aspects for sun exposure. Great spaced tree skiing. Thicker trees tended to be icy, especialy lower down (4k ft).

I skied S from White Pass and camped at Shoe Lk where I investigated a clear chute down to the snow machine rd on the N Fork Tieton. Today I skied S of Shoe Lk along the PCT and broke a ski stomping slush off the ski. The metal edges held it together to get me out. So much for foam core skis!
A few turns on my tele gear to round out today.

I think the N. Fork Tieton road (NF-1207) is closed to snowmobiles. How did the chute down to the road look? Sorry about your broken ski.
