May 3-4, 2013, Black Peak and Frisco Mt. Environs

Got to the Ann Lake pull out at Rainy Pass around 3:00pm on Friday with Phil.  We planned on bivying at Heather Pass and getting an alpine start to climb and ski Black Peak, but with warm temps at 2:30am Saturday morning and the sound of snow sluffing off the ridge we had to traverse below to get to Lewis Lake we quickly made more conservative plans.  Two hours later there was skier supportable crust as we gained the highpoint above Ann Lake for sunrise pics.  We continued along the ridge towards Frisco Mt. and made a couple laps in that drainage on really smooth proto corn before heading back to our bivy at Heather Pass.  We started our descent to the car a little after 10:30am just as things were starting to get a little too warm.  It would€™ve been nice to lay in the sun for a while, but with the avy forecast we wanted to get back to the car before noon. 

Pretty amazing place, I€™ll definitely be back.
