Skied up the White River Canyon between Timberline and Meadows on Mt Hood  with Jeffrey and Taylor.  Found 4-8 inches of new snow/wind loaded on leeward slopes on top of a nice firm rain crust.  Some pin wheels and sluffing as the sun got on it, it was light and dry in the morning but became heavier on the way out.  The sun was spotty, typical Mt Hood weather.  Winter/Spring rotated every 15 minutes in temperature and sun breaks.

We did some laps on a S/SE facing slope and found a nice little playground.  Taylor decided to bail on one of the laps and build a jump so he could show off his back flip abilities.
This was a great Trip. For Grad-school dudes, this powder was quite a treat after an abusive semester. I think we'll be making more trips out this way in the future. This should be an enticing gem to coax Nick to return for after he moves away for his Spokane internship next year. Great TR Nick. Awesome ski day. . . And Taylor. . . nice kicks.

It should be noted, also, that though conditions were relatively stable on the S/SE slope we were skiing on, we could hear blasting on the Heather canyon side just over Vista Ridge, so these stability conditions are highly variable.

We found variable conditions on sunday as well.  Skinned up to the top of tom, dick, and, harry found thin conditions (rocks slightly buried) and a reactive layer.  Bailed to Newton which yielded more stable conditions and deeper pow.  Heather didn't spin, there was a rather sizable crown in A-zone as well as other slide debris scattered throughout the canyon.  They were blasting pretty late into the morning.
