April 14, 2013, Stevens Pass Old Growth Pow

Looking to ski safe terrain but avoid meadow skipping me, Chmnyboy, Allen@taylor and Ben headed to a north facing old growth patch East of Stevens that Chmny and Allen stumbled upon a few weeks ago.  We observed no wind slab (or slab of any type) or any other instabilities, with the snow depth peaking somewhere in the 12-15" range - plenty deep to avoid feeling the hard crust underneath.  Multiple pow filled laps were enjoyed, and many laughs and high fives were exchanged as we relished this late season pow harvest.  Visual evidence of the good times had:

Bad traffic off the pass did little to ruin our mood after nailing old growth pow in April, with a bacon maple bar from the Sultan Bakery providing a most excellent cap to a great day!
