Spent the weekend in Mazama and drove up to harts Pass on Saturday despite cloudy and rainy weather. Hiked the road from the ranger station up to the lookout tower and skied the northeast face of Slate Peak and the bowl to the south. The snow cover in the area is much less than I've seen in previous years, but north-facing lines are still holding. The snow was mashed potatoes, it never really froze up then night before. Clear nights would corn it up pretty good, though not for long.

Thanks for the report. So seldom is the road open all the way to Harts Pass by now. We usually head to Mazama for Memorial Day, so may check it out then. Won't be surprised if the good skiing is gone by then.
