Again the rainy forecast gave way to a beautiful day. My sun-burned legs will attest to this. I went for a late start of 10:45. It was cloudy then, but by the time I reached the basin just below summerland, the sun was coming out. The bare trail gave way to skinnable snow just after the last creek crossing, just before trails switchbacks to summerland.
Headed up over Meany crest. Snow somewhat soft, but looking generally quite smooth. Nice boot track up steep slope. Saw huge party camped high on the Fryingpan.
Made Whitman crest by 5pm. Some wind and occasional clouds, but certainly nice views. Ski down was a little soft, but nice and smooth and fun.

hi androolus! i think it was you that i skied a couple runs with at Summit West sometime back in Dec. if not, then hello anyway. i'm glad you ventured onto the Fryingpan. what a great ski huh? camping on the glacier sounds like fun too.
