1/2 day splitboard tour up to the first high point at Kendall (SW side of the saddle). Sheltered N aspects contained soft flour, exposed solar aspects were rock-hard suncrust. Some refrozen loose wet slides on the steep, exposed S aspects. The upper elevations were good riding. The dense timber was a combination of heavy soft, and manky garbage. The manky garbage made for some cursing on the way down.
Dug a hasty pit for fun at 4700' on a N slope and found no surprises. About 110cm of stable increasing density with no discernible layers. At the ~110cm mark was the top of a very thick layer of facets under a thin crust. No action on a column test.
