March 9, 2013, Mt Snoqualmie NW Couloir

Where to go on a sunny Saturday?  Had original thoughts of Rock, Howard, Mastiff.  Turns out this traverse and area saw more traffic than is normal for the whole of March in a day.  Kelly, Lyle, Jeremy and I got an early start and headed up Commonwealth Creek and Cave Ridge to the East Ridge of Snoqualmie Mt.  Wonderful to find untouched dry snow on top of a firm crust going down North.  We crossed the North ridge to the west at about 4600 which in the hard snow conditions we found on this aspect was a little spicy.  Should have crossed the ridge at about 4200 instead on this day for a safer descent.

We put in a track up and over the ridge and down to Snow Lake.  Beautiful terrain this is!  The ski down to Source Lake sucked.

Great day in the mountains.  Batteries recharged.  Awfully nice company !
