Toured up mt snoqualmie today with hopes of shredding the slot. The sun came and went as we climbed, and pretty much disappeared for good once we reached the slot entrance. A northerly wind was blowing straight up the couloir, and the entrance was a bulletproof crust. A party of two apparently skied it earlier, and left us to speculate on the conditions lower down. several parties showed up and peered over the edge for a while, but decided on other descents. We followed suit, and after a quick trip to the summit, skied back down the south face. the snow up high was packy powder, and was very surfy and fun. Conditions quickly deteriorated to cascade concrete, which was still rippable, and made for fun skiing down the phantom. The waterfall was pure mank. I don't really know what that word means but it seemed appropriate for the glob that we skied to the parking lot. All in all it was a really fun day, despite not skiing our objective.  I would be very interested to hear from the people who skied the slot how the conditions were...
