Found light and stable snow as we skied three bumps around Stevens Pass. We dropped into some steep and deep snow north of Skyline Lake and then skinned up to Tye Peak. The open slopes east of the peak had 6" of great powder over a smooth base that was perfect to ski. We gained the ridge above Skyline Lake again via a very steep and perfect skin track, and then traversed over and up to Heather Ridge. Continuing north for 3/4's of a mile we then skied the open, lightly treed, slope to Yodelin where we had left another car to get back to the pass with. Great snow on all aspects. Most often we could feel the base under the new snow but it was still easy to turn on. We ski cut some very steep slopes with no results whatsoever. The last 500 vert to Yodelin was CCC. Classic Cascade Crud! Fresh turns are waiting tomorrow for anyone going a bit further on the ridge.
Like NWAC predicted, it was a good day to be in the mountains.
