After a gray Sat, David/Sally/Linda got me out of the bed early enough to head out to Thunder Mtn. It was wonderful to soak up the bright sun at the Surprise Lk. We then head up to the high ridge hoping to reach Thunder Lakes. The snow was settled, but still light and dry powder.  The last steep slopes below the ridge-line was baking under the late pm sun. There was some sun-crust and some wind-loaded snow. We all decide we were a little late to reach the ridge, and called it our high point of the day. Skiing was wonderful in 8~12" light powder all the way down to the lake level.  The best part was a 500' shot through a steep shady chute w/ stable powder, which was worth the long approach by itself. The exit was a bit painful along the icy snowshoe trench. I'd get up an hour earlier next time.  Great day!
Yes! What a gorgeous day!  Here's a shot of Kenji linkin' em from the high point.
