Feb 10, 2013, Mt.Roosevelt, Holy Diver

After yesterday's tour de whiteout doing the traverse from Alpy to Granite, Becky and I wanted to get in a few more turns, a little less traversing, and finally get some sunshine.
Thanks to whoever set the skin track up the east face of Roosevelt on Saturday...made for quick travel up through the steeper bits.  The morning sun was frying the east side slopes, but the west side couloir was nice and shady.  Was a bit of a surprise though that the whole bowl back there slid on the last avy cycle and there was only about 10" over the mid-Jan crust.  As we got lower though, we stopped touching down on the crust and had great turns in boot-top deep powder.  Ended up yoyoing a bit in the shade before climbing back over Wright-Roosevelt saddle to ski some crustly manky stuff back to Snow Lake.
