20th Jan 2013 Crystal Backcountry
« on: 01/20/13, 05:56 PM »

I experienced:

North aspects to be windscoured with an unbreakable crust. The corn south slopes were lovely. Everything in between is, well ,,, in between.

There's some really interesting terrain in the bowls & ridges east of the Norse-East peak ridge.
No Victor - no pics!

Sorry Jake...my zoom length was not strong enough to capture your adventures in the Crystal BC  from Columbia Crest... Wink Une autre fois.

Nice tour. The "ridge too far" looks tempting from above but it needs to be real stable cause you always come into this from above with little to no chance to do a good assessment. It does slide often, can go pretty big, and it's "trappy". But I digress a bit here. Did you ski any of the north / north-east facing runs off the wind blown knob & down to the frozen lake back there? Some fun bowls and glades can be had inside a days work there. Not epics or especially long but good entertainment.
