Great corn above 3500' for 2pm descent.   Minimal west wind.  6-8" slush on south facing slopes below 3500'.  Skied the central gully within 500 yds of the car.  Kinda brushy after that.

Yep, the Granite Mountain south of Canada and north of Mexico!  :)

Great report!  Any signs of significant recent instability on the south face?

Juneuary touring on Granite: It is fantastic to harvest corn with an eclectic group of fog busting ski enthusiasts without spending more than 50 minutes traveling from Seattle.

not that it matters, but wherever that list is from got the MT granite peak's elevation wrong. its 12,799 not 10640

you from montana burns?  granite be my stomping grounds...and you're right they got the elevation all wrong...course there could be another granite in the beartooths....

@silas.  i was going to do this yesterday...but i was an idiot and went for gunn peak again...all north facing with a crappy 4mi logging road approach and THEN 3.5k of climing.  needles so say i climed 3k vert which was just the logging road and then had to turn around and get impaled by fallen trees.

thanks for the post, we followed Sunday and had a great spring day.  perfect corn.  busting the last part to the road was the most fun part, huh!?

We followed up on Sunday as well - quite a few parties up there... at least 3-4 groups on skis/boards and a few other paries on foot.

We left the descent a bit late at 2:30. Enjoyed excellent snow until around 4000', where it started to get a bit sloppy. Thanks for the timely report that reminded us of this big south face! We followed tracks down the central gully, but didn't have the desire to tangle with as much brush, so bailed to the trail for the short walk out. Had we known the conditions, we would have taken out at the higher trail intersection.
