January 14, 2013, - Red Mountain

We started the day expecting sun if nothing else and if we were lucky some decent snow. What ensued was an epic battle against the wind, fog, ice, wind scoured ice, breakable sun crust, and more ice. More intelligent people may have turned back, but we decided to push on since neither one of us had ever skied red. After drinking a couple cold beers on the summit we decended mostly without issue. All and all it was a adventure for the books. Would recommend crampons and an axe if attempting this in the near future. The skin track which was reportedly present recently was completely gone and we ended up boot packing about 1300 vert.
