With Paradise closed, Mt. St. Helens was the logical alpine choice to breakup the drive back to Oregon from Seattle. Didn't leave the Marblemount Snopark until just after noon, so decided on this sub-peak as the objective for the afternoon.

The weather stayed cool with a persistent East wind most of the day.  The snow in the sun had softened nicely, and the shady aspects were mostly wind buff with some breakable crust.  The views of Adams and Hood were good as usual:

A very successful afternoon tour ended with me back at the car just before 4 PM, and home in Boring sipping Oregon micros by 5:30 :)

Nice pics! I've been thinking about st Helen's lately. Did you have to buy a snopark pass? Was there evidence of other skiers? Thanks

Nice way to spend the afternoon and get some exercise. Great pictures as usual Brian.
We need to go skiing one of these days.  :)

-Is there a name for that sub-peak? I've always wanted to ride that thing... I was supposed to go today... My buddies are up there camping as I type this... Nice pics!

Believe we ran into you at the parking lot before you headed up. We were in the white Tacoma. Good day to be out!

Did you ski off of the sub-peak?

Definitely a good day to be out.  I'm always looking for partners when I'm in PDX - I'll hit you up next time I'm in town.

I've heard it called and seen it referred to as Monitor Peak, which seems to be as good an unofficial name as any, given that it rises just east of Monitor Ridge.

It is Peak 5994 on the USGS map:
