Like the rest of the TAY community this past couple of weeks, Pete, Mike, Ross and I headed up to Kendall today. We toured up the climbers left side of the main slide path and up a steep little face through the cliffs to gain the ridge hoping it might offer us access to the chutes on the other side. Sadly, it did not, so we skied some high quality consolation powder about 1000 feet down and to skiers left on the slide path.

Then we turned around and headed up the right side of the slide path, finally locating a skin track that took us up to a place where we could slide across to access the entrance to the main Kendall couloir (is this called the left Twin?). Our party explored two ways into the main chute, both of them skied fine. A bit of sloughing at the steepest part at the top, but as soon as the pitch eased off it was creamy, hoot-eliciting turns all the way down. We put a skin track back up the chute as far as we could but eventually had to boot some supportive and some utterly wallowy snow. Anyone going there in the next day or two, when you get to the steepest, narrowest bit at the top of the main chute, under the trees, veer right. It's better.

More fun, easy turns down the slide path back into Commonwealth. That area's starting to look like a ski resort back there with all the tracks! At least it's still soft. :)

Thanks, it got plenty of use the past two days.
