12/14/12, Hyak (stand-in for Alpental)

After bailing on Alpental for reasons I'll post separately, I figured I'd see what was up at Hyak.  A number of creek crossings and a few little moulins in places down low.  The very bottom is the only reason it's not open yet!  Some well-established skin tracks heading up the face.  After heading into the fog up the face, the sun came out for the backside and it was a beauty.  Snow up top was quality in the morning, but there wasn't too much of it - 6"+ of quality sitting on dense wet.  Lots of tracks - lots of people up getting some turns in.  By mid-day it was getting pretty wet and heavy.
