I had the day off so I decided to ski up Amabilis after reading the grooming report (https://twitter.com/xccabincreek). The lower section needs more snow. It has been groomed, but you can see dirt in lots of places. I would bring rock skis or take off your skis. I did neither and got a nice little gouge (right in the waxless section).

After a few switchbacks, there is plenty of snow. I was concerned about the snow being crusty or icy, but it was fine, even for my skis, which lack metal edges. The only tricky part was the pathway caused by the groomer. For much of the area, he (I assume it was a he) pulled the track making a nice groomed path. But for a section above the fork, there was simply a cat track. The snow was such that this really wasn't a benefit (from my perspective). It was faster, but it was so lumpy that it made for tough going. Maybe with wider skis it would be better, but I enjoyed breaking trail more than I enjoyed skiing that section.
