Found this on the web and thought it might be useful.

Swiss Avalanche Matrix
Does anybody know if the Graphical Reduction Model would be applicable with NWAC avalanche forecasts?

Canada has something similar called the avaluator

Personally I think the NWAC is a little behind the ball compared to Canada, Utah and some of the other avalanche centers. I've only started to follow them this year being new up here, but it seems like they only forecast off the weather, and from 3rd party reports.

While other avalanche centers have people in the field observing, digging profiles, and posting videos on youtube showing results.

Please correct me if I'm wrong

NWAC operates differently then other Forecast centers. There are 3 actual meteorologists that forecast mountain weather and avalanche hazard as opposed to just avalanche forecasters focused on the avalanche problem.

There is an observer network as well as specific groups that provide daily field observations that are first hand such as WSDOT, Ski Patrols and several guide services.

The style of the website reflects the founder of the avalanche center and it is evolving.
