Drove to the borrow pit/ bridge on the Beverly Rd (late 90's trailhead). 4X can make it to TH proper with no problem. I was solo so didn't have the encouragement of a passenger to rally a bit more. 15-20 cm at the start, solid snow and easy skinning. About 1 meter in upper Bean Basin; good coverage overall.
A few nice turns from the top then it all changed. Major trap crust. I'd characterize it as beyond heinous, maybe tyrannical in sections. A layer of new snow will make it all better. Speaking of new snow- Surface hoar on the crust, faceted below. Then another crust at 10 cm and another dense layer at 35 cm down. Keeps those layers in mind lest they become buried and forgotten.
